Why I'm doing what I do
Sep 09, 2021
In April of 2014, way back when I was still working in the corporate world, I surprised my staff by turning a monthly meeting discussing office updates and policies into a personal development team-building event.
Why?
I was doing some deep digging at that time into my inner world after being divorced for a few years, and back in the dating arena, I felt like something was off, and I could no longer blame it on the guy. It was me! I can't fix the guy anyway, and that would be exhausting. The void that I was feeling wasn't outside of me.
So I started diving into personal development, hired a fantastic coach, read all the books, attended events, and took my spiritual walk to a new level.
I had a feeling that some of my team had some of the same inner struggles, and there was a good possibility they were suffering in silence. So, I thought, why not take what I've learned and give it to my team.
I stayed up the weekend leading to the event until 3 am putting information together and didn't tell anyone what I was doing. I didn't even ask my boss. At the same time, I was kind of nervous about how everyone would receive it. However, the inner pull I felt was too strong not to go forward with it.
So I put on my big girl shoes and did it.
Halfway into the event, I felt a fire inside that I've never felt, and it knocked me off my feet. I remember going back to my office thinking, OMG, at 44, I finally know what I want to do when I grow up!
I want to serve others in a way that will empower them to see beyond conditioning, old stories, and limiting beliefs.
Many who attended the event that day ask if I would continue to do these events and the feedback was amazing. Of course, I said yes, and I did them for over a year. The teams I worked with in the organization seemed happier, more confident, and productivity increased because they accessed a different inner fuel.
In 2015, I stepped out of my corporate career of leadership for almost 20 years and started a coaching business. A big step that has paid off in many ways.
Today, I can say it's been one of the biggest honors of helping people worldwide through my coaching and training.
