Shedding the snakeskin...
Feb 20, 2024
Meet the 2020 me! (see photo below)
Behind that smile was a woman in her deep shadow stage of unraveling parts of herself that started to surface like a Jack in the Box.
During that time, it felt like a calling from my soul to shed the snakeskin; in other words, the mask (the ego structure) that many of us wear to get through life was no longer a fit for my life and purpose. And frankly, no longer serving me.
I felt a more profound calling to understand myself more deeply than ever to serve more meaningfully.
Like many folks, something felt off and out of alignment, and the problem solver in me was ready to take a deep dive into the unknown.
Uncharted territories, here I come.
Exploring parts of yourself that you once stuffed and made wrong, then realizing you replaced them with "the mask," is eye-opening yet an opening to a significant transformation.
What a journey to take on in a year of collective chaos that ultimately squeezed us to our core in innumerable ways.
It was helpful that I aligned myself with other loving and skilled coaches, mentors, and therapists who could help guide, encourage, and support my journey.
It played a crucial role in where I am today in my healing journey—having a community of support going through shedding the layers and later a significant life event two years after was a blessing.
Having a tribe of loving support is so essential!!
When I speak about finding your tribe to people, it's with a passion that comes from first-hand experience of how impactful it is to have in your life, especially when you are going through tough times. Even if your tribe is three loving people who get you, it's not about numbers but the quality of the connection.
Today, I met myself differently by showing up for myself and aligning with my values, passions, needs, and talents instead of the default mode of hiding who I am.
The 2024 me is creating a life that honors my gifts, values and needs instead of mindless hustling. :)
